We found this interesting article (click on the link above) about Tazara, the “Uhuru Railway” which links the port of Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) with Kapiri Mposhi in Zambia.
The construction of Tazara began in 1970 financed by China and was finished in 1976.
Nowadays two trains per week start from Dar es Salaam: on Tuesdays and Fridays.
After 1860 km they are supposed to arrive in Zambia on Thursdays and Sundays, but often it takes longer due to different circumstances.
Between Dar es Salaam and the stop Kisaki the train drives about 100km through Selous Game Reserve, so that sometimes you are lucky to see giraffes, antelopes and even elephants and hippos.
Have a great weekend!
