Lake Duluti is just an easy 10 minutes’ drive out of Arusha town. The scenery is very beautiful and you can relax in the shades of many trees. Small restaurants around offer cool drinks and a great view of the lake.
Different trips are possible here: canoeing, bird watching, walking around, jogging and mountain biking.
Snake Park & Massai Museum
The snake park is a popular special for foreign and local visitors of Arusha. It is located 25km west of Arusha town on the route to Ngorongoro and Serengeti.
You learn about many different species of snakes, check out giant crocodiles at feeding time and are even able to touch a real live snake and a baby crocodile.
Directly next to the Snake Park there is the Massai Museum, where you can learn a lot of interesting facts about this unique culture.
Another special here is a short camel ride.
At the Massai Market different small shops offer handcrafts, self-made jewelry, paintings, shoes and other souvenirs. It’s a nice walk through the shops, especially when you look for gifts for your loved ones at home. The Massai Market is located only few minutes down from clock tower.
Riverwalk (USA River)
The small but vibrant village USA River lies only few km outside of Arusha town. The market days there on Wednesday and Sunday are very popular and you can get a variety of clothes, house hold products, fruits and vegetables there.
The brook “Maji ya Chai” flows through banana plantations into the USA River.
During the walk you pass different plantations, for example for the excellent Arabica coffee.
The hot springs near Arusha are probably the best place for swimming. The geo-thermally warmed water is very clean and clear. You can relax and have fun with friends or your family.
The distance from Arusha to the hot springs is a little bit more than a one hour drive.
It takes only around 15 minutes to get from Arusha town to the Meru Waterfall. After having parked, you take a short walk through a beautiful landscape until you reach the waterfall. Usually you enjoy a picnic there or just relax and enjoy the nature.

Arusha National Park
Enjoy a one day safari in Arusha National Park with the spectacular Mount Meru always in the background.
After you reach one of several coffee plantations, one of the farmers will show and explain the process of growing coffee. Maybe you have the chance to grind some beans on your own in the coffee roasting factory, where you can see how coffee is roasted, ground and packed.
